Job located in Atlanta, GA - to conduct geotechnical explorations and integrate field scale observations into a comprehensive description of soil behavior; Analyze data to plan and design highway, roadway and airport pavements projects following construction and government standards and using Auto CAD, LDD, Synchro/Sim Traffic and HCS; Conduct research to test and analyze feasibility, design, operation and permanence of materials to meet requirements of quality control/assurance using AASHTO/ASTM (American Association of State Highway and Traffic Officials/American Society for Testing and Materials) test methods and construction materials testing requirements; Execute inspection and manage inspection/testing staff. Require: M.S. degree in Civil Engineering; Must have a demonstrated ability to perform the stated duties gained through academic coursework/previous work experience. Metals & Materials Engineers, a leading engineering and scientific consulting firm is seeking a Civil or Mechanical Engineer with Water and Sewer experience for its Birmingham operations. The successful candidate you will have a significant role interacting with clients, developing business and expanding the capabilities of our engineering division. The ideal candidate will be a leader in their field with excellent interpersonal skills. Experience in working with water and sewer systems is a MUST.
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:
- A minimum of a Bachelors Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Current P.E. License or the ability to obtain one within 12 to 18 months strongly desired.
- 5 plus years of practical experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Utilities and Water and Sewer Systems is a MUST.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated complex problem solving skills.
- Strong educational and practical experience.
- Excellent personal computer skills to include word processing, database activity, spreadsheet, and graphics.
Responsibilities for this position include:
- Hydraulic calculations.
- Process design.
- Ability to size and layout piping configurations for treatment plants.
- Experience with Auto CAD.
- Check drawings and details.
- Be familiar with permit requirements.
- Advising clients on complex engineering issues.
- Presenting results in a variety of forums comprised of both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Must have the ability to prepare scientific and technical reports for superiors and clients.
- Complete assigned engineering projects in accordance with customer specifications and within schedule and budget limitations.
